An article by japlonik lists complaints from a few new EV owners that their tires are wearing out prematurely.
The fact is that if tires are abused they will wear out faster. Another thing to note is that EVs put full torque and power to the tires instantly, something ICE cars donโt do when pulling away at low RPM when driving normally. Constantly driving an EV hard will result in faster tire wear, but possibly more than an ICE car since the tires have to deal with all that torque and power that the ICE car only makes at some absurdly high screaming RPM.
EVs driven NORMALLY, not trying to test acceleration numbers at every stoplight, have normal tire wear. Teslas can be put in Chill mode to reduce acceleration and subsequently tire wear if you canโt control your lead foot.
