A popular free mod for Aero wheel Tesla Model 3 and Model y owners is to remove the wheel cover. This reveals the nice looking, lightweight wheel above (2019 Model 3 Long Range AWD pictured). Makes perfect sense to throw on some center caps and lug nut covers for protection which are easy enough to find on amazon or ebay. But the wheel center caps are pretty firmly in there after installation and while removing the wheel is one path to avoid damage to the wheel, there is another way to do it without ending up like this guy:
Please don’t use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the center cap. Use the Tesla Center Cap Removal Tool and follow these steps:
1: Clean wheels, center cap, and suction cup with soap and water
2: Separate handles of tool
3: Push tool inward, putting pressure on the wheel cap to create a good seal
4: Pull tool handles together
5: Pull tool out, away from the wheel
I tried duct tape as seen on a youtube video but that didn’t work for me. It just left a sticky residue mess to deal with✌️
